“El Cuerpo del Agua” (translated from english to spanish as: “The Shape of Water”) consists in two sculptural pieces designed in 3D and blown in glass with the objective of containing water. These funcion as a theremin, an electronic musical instrument conformed by two variants that detect the relative position of the user.

The data obtained from the interrelation between the electromagnetic fields from both the water and the performer modulate the sound frequency as well as its amplitude. Visualizing in real time the impact we have as human beings on our environment. This interactive system funcions at a distance. It isn´t necesary to come in contact with the water to be able to hear how the presence of the user afects the system. The sound of the theremin is then analysed by another interactive system developed in Touch Designer and Arduino, syncronizing the the audio modulation through light.

“El Cuerpo del Agua” consiste en dos piezas escultóricas diseñadas en 3D y sopladas en vidrio de forma artesanal con el fin de contener agua. Cumplen la función de un theremin, un instrumento músical electrónico conformado por dos variantes que detecta la posición relativa del usuario.

La data obtenida de la interrelación entre el campoelectromagnético del agua y la performer modula tanto la frequencia sonora como su amplitud. Visualizando en tiempo real el impacto que tenemos como seres humanos con nuestro entorno. Este sistema de interacción funciona a distancia. No es necesario llegar a tocar el agua para oír cómo la presencia del usuario la afecta. El audio del theremin luego es analizado por un siguiente sistema de interacción desarrollado en Touch Designer y Arduino, que sincroniza la modulación auditiva a un nivel lumínico.
